Zhang Yong

Zhang Yong, male, was born in 1977 in Liaoning Province of China. He is now the assistant professor in the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He accomplished his master’s degree in management and Ph.D. in economics in Graduate School of CASS in 2003 and 2008 respectively. His research fields focus on development economics including agriculture and economic development, transfer of rural surplus labor force, employment, poverty and inequality. Especially he has paid more attention to the experience and lessons of development in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) countries.
During the period of studying at GSCASS, he had participated in many researches and on-the-spot investigations granted and organized by WB (World Bank), ADB (Asian Development Bank) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Especially he successfully completed a three-weeks course on Grameen Basics (Branch Management) organized by Grameen Bank Training Institute from 12th January to 1st February 2002 in Bangladesh. He joined ILAS in 2003 and since then he has devoted himself to academic studies about Latin American economy and development.
